Lidl recalls grated cheese which ‘may contain small pieces of plastic’

Lidl UK has issued a recall for cheddar cheese because some packages “may contain small pieces of plastic”.

According to the Food Standards Agency, Simply Cheese, the supermarket giant’s brand, may be unsafe to consume.

It is the Simply Grated Cheddar 500g Bag with a Best Before Date of December 23, 2022.

Customers who purchased the affected batch can return it to Lidl to receive a full refund.

The FSA advises: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

“Any customers with queries or concerns can contact Lidl Customer Services on 0800 444 1234 or”

Lidl GB stores that sold the affected packages displayed a point-of-sale notice explaining to customers why the product was being recalled. It also gave instructions on what to do if the product has been purchased.
