Group of youths sought after teenager found injured on major road

Police are looking to speak with a group of young people after a teenager was found seriously injured on a major road in the early hours.

It comes after the 17-year-old boy was discovered on the A75 between Castle Douglas Road and Glasgow Road in Dumfries at around 3.30am on Saturday, November 12.

The teenager was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment and being found on the road.

An investigation is being carried out into the incident, with police having appealed for witnesses.

Officers have established that a group of young people were seen on the overbridge of Hardthorn Road between around 2.45am and 3.30am.

Police believe that they may have information which could help them in their investigation.

Detective sergeant Kelly Douglas said: “We are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances of this incident and how the man was injured and came to be on the A75.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and in particular the group of young people we know were in the area as they may have information which could prove useful.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone else with any information or perhaps dashcam footage which has not yet been passed to police.

“Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting incident number 0596 of November 12, 2022.”
