A man has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates in connection with a rape in Scotland eight years ago.
The 31-year-old was arrested by officers in Abu Dhabi on an international arrest warrant.
The warrant was in connection with a serious sexual offence which allegedly took place in Greenock in December 2013.
The man has been extradited back to Scotland following co-operation by Police Scotland, the National Crime Agency, Interpol, and the UAE authorities including the Abu Dhabi Police.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “He is due to appear at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday.”
